Cannon, I think you mean Rams. They have changed their name. By the way, what are they now calling their ladies team?

So they like Bristol have gone down the banal pointless rebranding route that throws away the heritage of their club in the hope that they may get more sponsor money because their name is shorter or more "catchy"?

My money is that every opposition will say they are playing Redingensians, whatever the new name!

I dunno, readingensians was always a mouthful -I like the chance to Rams?

Regarding the Redingensians/Rams debate......well not  debate really, just criticism of the name change.

I would personally, come down much in favour of the change.  If I was the Rams marketing manager, I would be massively enamoured by the improved opportunity this would give me to market to an audience outside of Reading.

Clearly, this is not an issue if, as a club, your ambition is to play at level 4 or lower but, if like Rams, you aspire to move higher, then marketing moves of this sort are to be applauded IMO.   Well done to them but they must appreciate, that they might now be replacing Chinnor in the eyes of the green eyed monsters on our forum.
Anything they achieve this year will just be down to money Ouch  Me ??  Yes I see good levels of finance and sponsorship, but it has been built over several years.....an impressive progression.
I suspect that they may be recruiting a few backs Wink
Of course I hope my lot stuff 'em home and away, but it is not likely.

Huge congratulations to Lions scrum half Henry Clement as he is selected on the bench for Wasps as they take on Gloucester tomorrow in the Premiership cup. Clement is on a dual agreement with Wasps. Not that anyone told me that , might want to change my prediction if he's out then lol.

So where do I’s stand when constantly asking players from lower levels to join them? After being told no, they then go on to slating the players club. Why doesn’t your DOR respect these clubs?

I would 100% say that this is the case.

If it is, which is unconfirmed as yet, clubs are always going to look at good players in the lower leagues and some players want to try themselves at a higher level which is understandable and acceptable.

My issue lies with if the club in question have been told no ..... they then oranges the other club, that is not right.

Make an approach ..... I get that, but if told no ...... move on !

However this is unconfirmed at the moment, so may be (probably is) all rubbish. I's were fantastic when we went to them this year.

Sid if you are going to ask for names etc etc I am sure they will not put them on a open forum, so move on mate.

Exactly that, lads who are playing for a lower level club but have signed contracts , in line with regulations making them off limits. When the player had already said no, they have recently (this week) been back in contact. Again however, not with the club but the player. So in terms of honouring contracts ect, I’s don’t exactly do this themselves. They always try to take other talent nurtured in other clubs and haemorrhage their own as they don’t looj after them.

Sandal have lost quite a few players up the road to Hull Ionians, Reakes Allott Bell and Cotterill to name a few..
It was usually at the end of the season when they had played for Yorkshire.
But as much as we missed them at Sandal they went on to play regularly for Ionians and at 2 levels above.
They will always be Sandal lads and to my knowledge they were never signed mid season.
I think when you have signed a contract you should stick with it.
