Rumour on the 7s circuit that Worthing captain Matt Walsh is training (has joined) Juddians... anyone confirm?

Managed to get down to Merton Lane to see Canterbury Vs TJ’s Saturday. Great reader of the game - Tonbridge have signed a real asset with Matt.

Has he signed a contract with TJ's ??? mind you a contract doesn't seem to mean too much to him anyway. Perhaps he is just playing for fun ???

Spoke to him last season when Worthing beat TJ's and seemed to be enjoying it, very strange ! He is a good player, you can see he has Championship experience.

Apparently Worthing have a couple of very able replacements

Hopefully, however I cannot help thinking that we have lost a good player and a lot of experience.

Of course, but clearly loyalty is easily bought.

Anyway, it could be argued that one of those replacements has played at a higher or equal level and is also younger.

I’ve met Matt numerous times through my son and there is no doubt he is very pleasant young man who has done a lot for Worthing. He’s always been involved in and around the community voluntarily, worked hard with age groups in the youth section and can imagine he’s progressed a lot of senior players along the way too? Never mind playing 40+ games for the club and being named Captain when Mr. Perkins got injured. Naturally, Worthing supporters will be disappointed he is leaving. But I don’t feel you can question his loyalty?

Anyway, I look forward to the season ahead! Should be a cracker.

Sorry my apologies I didn’t realise how blessed we were to be honoured by his presence for 40 games.

Interesting reply. If you don’t think highly of the player, why do you speak so much about him?

Haha an equally interesting reply as I have never said I don’t think highly of him as a player. Far from it.

Not sure what you mean by that - I can certainltpy say Matt was well liked by the regular supporters, always having time for a chat.

Last season he missed a number of games with injuries.

I for one am very disappointed that he has left and would be very interested to know the reasons for his leaving.

Additionally, there have been several posts regarding his replacement (without naming any names), I look forward to seeing the mystery man in a couple of weeks time.

Matt is a top man and an excellent player, so I am sure he would only have moved for the right reasons.

Good grief not another fan club member
Don’t make it more complicated than it is
He left for more money as simple as that
It’s a short career so good luck to him but please don’t make out he left because of artistic differences

It was more him wanting to get away from certain people that I had in mind.

Interesting comment, perhaps you could elaborate (possibly in a private message?)

No need for a PM. I simply thought that if he had to regularly meet in person the people on here that are so willing to repeatedly have a go at him I could see why he might choose to go elsewhere.

Of course those folks might not be associated with his past club(s) but then how would they know so much about the circumstances in order to be so critical?

(And before anyone accuses me of being "another fan club member" I wouldn't know him from Adam).

Perspective
This saga re Walsh has gone on long enough. I am sure the club as it usually does will announce the players etc for the new season in a week or so.
I always found him a very pleasant guy ready to smile and chat with supporters. Super player.

I would rather discuss what Red wine we have available for the new season. Chin Chin

No one seems to have heard of an Army player, more fake news I expect

I see the news of an Army 10 arriving at Clifton was not fake news, it must be quite worrying why you believe nobody there had heard of an army player !!!

I bet when the win bonuses and extra appearance monies kick in the Clifton 1st XV will be the most expensive side they have fielded ...... I sure the news won't be fake if they finish outside the top 4 .....

Given your penchant for the red sauce Old Hooker did you set up the recent Worthing sponsorship deal (now cancelled) ????

I do not understand why I should be worried I only passed on information from a Clifton supporter who unlike you is not part of insider information. I shall see the guy no doubt at Dings next week and make sure he is up to date with news about his club.

I get on quite well with the Clifton contingent but you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about them, have they offended you in any way?
