Back to enjoying the heatwave........

I believe that the squad was finalized some weeks ago Westcoaster. About 34 playing staff if memory serves, but I'm sure that others will correct me if I'm slightly out on my numbers.

1 Briz by a mile. 2 Donny back to top in Yorkshire. 3 Blues On the up . 4 Pirates time they came back . 5 Jersey same as 4 . 6 L\ S New top Coach. 7 Roth recruited well got rid of poor players. 8 Ealing Dark horse. 9 Nottingham On Decline . 10 Leeds Same all best players gone lack of investment, can see going semi pro, Crowds poor have to change Grounds. 11 Hartbury may just survive. 12 Richmond will not survive again. The Standard of Championship has declined in last year or so can see it being mostly Semi Pro. Its Just NOT Sustainable !!!!!

Alex Rae will make a big difference for you, both on the field and on the training ground. He can play in any of the back 5 positions in the scrum, probably with the exception of no. 8, but would still do a job there.

He'll need to be a miracle worker as I think he will struggle with the raw materials he has to work with.

I've looked at that thread and am not sure it means anything for the Championship.

The Championship is doomed !! The governing body have no conception of how to make it work. Rugby has always survived on Volunteers, and benefactors , that's ok at grass roots but NOT at level 2 !!! the Championship will go total semi Pro soon. The prem will be ring Fenced and Rugby will suffer. Bristol will walk the Championship this year because its not a level playing field. The Championship standards have and are dropping fast.

Trying to gauge how to consider your opinion that the standard has gone down, which is interesting. Has it gone down in the past two years or over a longer period?

That's an interesting debate. Apart from leeds last year it was a one  horse race as in previous years there was poss 6 good sides in the race, Doncaster were very strong the year before, you know the writing is on the wall for the League when Leeds announce the departure of their best players weeks before the end of season in spite them being almost certain of them being in the play off Final. This year will be worse again with Briz odds on to go straight back up.I ask you what sort of League  is it when it is in fact a ONE horse race. The prime reason for this is gross underfunding. Who are you attached to ?

Better than a none horse race though. At least we got a race....but probably not FURLONG

It is not commonly known that a Yorkshireman invented the original cure for sea sickness.....they leant over the side of the boat with a five pound note in their mouth.

I'm sure that Bristol will pass the Winning Post at a Canter, but there will be 4 or 5 teams in this race Jockeying for position behind them, and whose to say that one of them wont come up on the rails late on, and make for a closer finish than we think, or possibly make it a photo finish.  Bristol will certainly have the whip hand, and be the odds-on favourite. But favourites, definitely this one, have been known to falter over the last furlong.  It will be interesting to see who actually enters the Winners enclosure.

What I suggest is to scupper the RFU and PRL is that all teams throw everything they have at Bristol home and away and then capitulate to Doncaster thus giving us a clear and easy route to the Prem, leaving Bristol to languish in the Championship for a year - the bonus points would ensure that we wouldn't even need to beat Bristol.

We would see a rapid change to the funding arrangements in the Championship then..............................well maybe.

What we need is to let premiership ring fence. All leagues below find a very wealthy backer, set up our rugby union and throw two fingers at RFU. Have our own internationals, cup competitions and be such stiff competition to the premiership that everyone will be begging to join us. I have now returned from the planet I live on and back to reality.  Can always dream.Smile
